I have often thought of this evening during the Covid curfew and wish I could go back in time for only one song - and a "bula"!

I am very thankful as my antibodies (one inflammation marker for my illness) decreased during that time (I tested in October and November) so I know for a fact they were very diligent.

Our stay at Oneta Resort was one of the most incredible experiences we've had. It was particularly apparent to me that the staff are treated ethically and with care at all times. Despite our rough arrival where we had to endure 3 hours of frigid rain on the bumpy speedboat ride, this was soon forgotten. Vinaka Vaka levu! Guests enjoy included meals, free Wi-Fi, a bar and a restaurant. He grew up in Fiji so has a Fijian heart. It covers an area of 30 square kilometers. We would return in a heartbeat. He speaks fluent Fijian and is a man that understands Fijian culture very well. Oneta is a small family run eco-resort on one of the most untouched and beautiful islands in Fiji. Snorkel or dive on the pristine Astrolabe reef, one of the world's most beautiful and hidden underwater treasures or go deep sea fishing with one of the best fishing guides in the South Pacific. The Kadavu people are also the best people I know and Oneta is lucky enough to have them as staff. We can also pretty much guarantee that you will have it all to yourself. The staff treated us to their lovely harmonies which sounded beautiful. During the farewell song, we couldn't help tearing up. From the minute we took the small plane from Suva, we knew we were in for a treat. The team took us out for picnics on deserted beaches, to snorkelling spots, on jungle walks, crab hunting at night (Gabi is Crab catcher extraordinaire! The views from the plane were beautiful and the reef was so clear to see. The interior was typically Fijian, very clean and simple. There are seven villages: Vabea (south), Waisomo (south), Narikoso (southeast), Naqara (northeast), Nabouwalu (northwest), Buliya, Dravuni. The plunge pool was a great way to rinse the salt water off, after a day out on the boat! The Ono Group of Islands is formed from spectacular volcanic formations that is encircled by the Great Astrolabe Reef. We chose Oneta as we felt we would have a personalised experience and we were not disappointed. We truly felt like we were bidding farewell to family, not just mere staff members. Oneta is the most amazing place we have ever stayed. There are six villages on The Ono Group of Island Kadavu. The Oneta Sunset cocktail was beautiful! Yes, Oneta Resort offers an airport shuttle for guests. The fresh seafood, organic produce and delicious dessert meant we looked forward to every meal. More. We loved how staff were given the opportunity to share their skills with guests, such as Sparky the electrician, giving guests a tour of the new eco power operation or Joe, giving a tour of the garden.
Which languages are spoken by the staff at Oneta Resort?The staff speaks multiple languages, including English and German. You'll probably need two planes, a boat ride and a final walk in the ocean to reach the island but once there you will not want to leave! Finally we must mention and thank Liz and Martin, the proud owners of this wonderful resort. We loved every second of this experience. These creatures are so majestic. It is the best location in Kadavu for scuba diving, snorkeling, trekking, bird watching and fishing with unrivaled access to The Great Astrolabe Reef in absolute pristine beauty.Plus our “All Inclusive Packages” make it very easy for you to book with no HIDDEN costs we have our own charter flight from Nadi to Kadavu and First Class Meals are all included ! The staff were so great with the kids, really having fun with them and connecting with them through humour and adventure. There are so many thoughtful touches that make this stay memorable. Hidden away on an island with no roads Oneta is a peaceful haven for any kind of traveler. It is bordered by Bayou St. John to the north and Old River to the south. It is a rare gift of a place with a beautiful soul. The food was excellent. The location was peaceful and the only loud noise was the sound of the waves lapping the shore and the Kadavu parrot flying overhead which was a real treat to see.
I can honestly say our time at this resort exceeded all of our expectations. The food was delicious. We were lucky to have great weather for this journey! They were so welcoming and we loved how they made us feel like we were the first visitors to Oneta, proudly sharing their Fijian customs and traditions. The Kadavu airport will be closed for upgrades from Feb. 6th to March 26th, 2020. Kadavu has been forgotten by the mass market. We stayed in villa Lai Lai, which was the most idyllic spot we have ever stayed in. The amazing food was also way beyond our expectations- who would expect a tiny island in Fiji to serve food of fine-dining quality? I don't like to call them staff because to us the local Fijians were more like friends and family accompanying us on our holiday.
