The following characters has appeared in every episodes in the series, also having major roles in each episode. This week has been an excellent week for first person narratives. 'The Goldfish Boy' provides its readers with a number of delights; an intriguing mystery, a great cast of characters (Melody was my favourite), and a fascinating insight into the experience of someone suffering from OCD.

A story about finding friendship when you're lonely - and hope when all you feel is fear. Thompson’s writing really allows the reader to understand what goes on in the mind of an OCD person. I flew through the book, read the rest of 250 pages I still had left to read in 2 and a half hours. I think we shouldn't shy away from talking to children about these kinds of things, but encouraging conversation allowing them to ask questions and understand the world they live in in a safe and secure and environment. Gr 4–6—Watching from his bedroom window, Matthew, called Goldfish Boy because he never leaves his room, is the last person to observe a neighborhood toddler before the child's disappearance. A character which can see everything from the view of his window. I really felt as though I was part of Matthew’s story and understood how he felt throughout the book.

I rated this story five stars for a debut middle grade novel. But Matthew has problems of his own. There are many themes running throughout the book that could be picked up with children, such as friendship, bullying, mental health, not judging people from first appearance.

Next week, I plan to go more in depth with this novel, along with others.I feel like a book that includes someone heavily worrying about germs is relatable in a time like this. Matthew ends up being part of a mystery when he realizes that he was the last person to see a young boy This book is very different from my typical reads because this is a middle grade book.

He is unable to wander far or often from his home-bound world due to the paralyzing effects of his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

It didn't shy away from showing how much this little boy was suffering from OCD, the thought processes behind it and how he struggled through each day. Matty. A genuinely clever mystery, an awkward, different, difficult detective and a suburban world where nothing is quite what it seems. Spending his days cataloging the behaviors of his neighbors, Matthew hasn't left home in weeks. Matthew is very likeable as a character, and as a reader you desperately want him to get help, so that he can recover from the dreadful fears and anxieties that are crippling his life. The main character, Matt, is afflicted with Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder (OCD) which causes Matt to clean his hands and surroundings constantly. the mystery was done well too.i i really liked how matthew was so keen on finding the missing child, even though the thought of leaving his house made him sick.This Middle Grade novel is set in a neighborhood and is about a 12 year old boy who lives in it named Matthew Corbin. February 28th 2017 Matthew has a problem that is suffocating his lifestyle.
