I chose to read this book as I have read others by the author and have enjoyed them. I saw a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews for this and thought "YES!!!" Slater ever since I read her debut psychological thriller Safe with Me, and knew she was an author to watch.

I actually felt like I knew her personally and could alter the sequence of events by shouting loudly at my kindle. That’s what makes this a trillion times harder. but I felt let down. She had always thought that she was marrying a son of the He family, but she didn't know that her nominal husband was actually the second son, He Yining.
